Rev. Kelsi Deanne Watters
Clergy Fellow
Bio: I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin and received my theological education in Minnesota, before taking a leap of faith to move to Charlotte, North Carolina to pursue two chaplain residencies. I was ordained as an Interfaith/Interspiritual Minister by the Order of Universal Interfaith (OUnI) on August 22, 2021. I have practiced chaplaincy in a variety of healthcare settings which has allowed me the opportunity to meet many people of diverse cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences. As a chaplain, I frequently utilize integrative modalities such as basic healing touch, therapeutic music through the reverie harp, singing, and guided meditation. Another unique gift in my ministry is writing and sharing interfaith prayers, which brings me great joy. My spiritual care practice is guided by a dedication to compassionate care that is sensitive to the holistic needs of each individual; a deep passion for standing with those who are experiencing marginalization; and a desire to touch the lives of the people I encounter. To touch one hurting soul makes all the difference in the world.

I experience a deep faith in God, a unique integration of elements of Catholicism, liberation theologies, and deep spirituality, which all influenced my own theological voice. I am eager for the ways my theology will continue to expand. My lived experience as a person without physical sight has allowed me to develop unique skills of deeply listening with the ear of my spirit, authentic inclusive communion, cultivating relationships, forming spiritual connections, navigating the world by touch, and utilizing a keen sense of intuition by listening to the inner voice and/or movement of the spirit. I am, with excitement, a little trepidation, and hope, opening my heart in anticipation of the next steps on my journey. I seek to serve in the spirit of love, compassion, humility, and gratitude, and to sit at the table with everyone. May my life, my actions, and the meditations on my heart be guided by Love.
